Former Jackson High School standout and Marshall University pitcher, Hunter Sexton is pitching this summer with the West Virginia Miners.
The Miners, which hold a one-half game lead in the East Division of the Prospect League over the Chillicothe Paints will be at the V.A. Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe for a 7:05 p.m. game on Tuesday night.
Sexton's 2018 spring collegiate season at Marshall, where he majoring in biology, recorded a 5.11 ERA with 29 strikeouts this season. He allowed 13 walks and gave up three homers on the season while holding the opposition to a .228 batting average.
The son of Dusty and Wendy Sexton of Jackson, Hunter is a 2016 graduate of Jackson High School, where he was a two-sport standout in both football and baseball.
He was a four-time all-SEOAL selection in baseball, and was named to the Southeast District first-team during his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. During his senior year, Sexton was a first-team pick on the All-Ohio team.
