Two-vehicle fatal crash in Ross County
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash in Ross County which claimed three lives late Wednesday night, July 4. At 11:38 p.m., a 1995 Lincoln Continental, driven by Monica R. Arledge, 21, of Chillicothe, was traveling westbound on County Road 550 near Maple Grove Road. A 2006 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck, driven by Shane Gifford, 27, of Laurelville, was traveling eastbound on County Road 550.
Arledge drove to the left of the center line and struck Gifford's truck head-on. Arledge's vehicle spun and came to rest in the westbound lane of County Road 550. Gifford's vehicle spun, traveled off of the right side of the roadway and struck the ditch.
Two passengers in Ms. Arledge's vehicle, Bodhi Arledge, 14, of Frankfort, and Addilee Secrest, 3 months old, of Chillicothe, were ejected from the vehicle. Arledge and both occupants in her vehicle were pronounced deceased at the scene. Gifford, and his two passengers, Miranda Gifford, of Laurelville, and Rayelynn Gifford, 2, also of Laurelville, were transported from the scene to Adena Regional Medical Center as a precaution and later released. Motorists are reminded to wear their seat belts. The crash remains under investigation.
