A Zaleski man died Tuesday night, Sept. 21 from injuries he suffered when his car was involved in a crash on U.S. Route 50 east of McArthur.

According to the Jackson Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 62-year-old Samuel Hatley of Zaleski died following the one-vehicle wreck, which occurred at approximately 7:13 p.m. on U.S. Route 50, about one mile west of the State Route 677 junction.

Hatley was driving a 2003 model Cadillac CTS eastbound when it traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck and ditch and overturned. Hatley was extricated by mechanical means and transported to Holzer Medical Center-Jackson by Vinton County Emergency Medical Services. He was then transported by a MedFlight helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus where he succumbed to his injuries.

Agencies on scene included the McArthur Fire Department, Vinton County Emergency Medical Services, and the Vinton County Sheriff Office.

This crash remains under investigation.
