The Vinton County Sheriff’s Office (VCSO) reports the arrest of a McArthur man last Sunday, Sept. 19, after deputies followed up on a report regarding a vehicle taken without the owner’s permission.

A suspect was identified during the initial investigation: Jason Bishop, 44 of McArthur. Shortly after the report was taken, deputies received a call about the vehicle being at a residence in McArthur. Deputies responded and found the vehicle and the suspect.

However, Bishop fled on foot into a nearby alley. Bishop was apprehended after a short foot pursuit and was transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail. Bishop is on parole, and violations are expected be filed by Adult Parole Authority in the near future. Additional charges were filed with the Vinton County Prosecutor's Office. This investigation and arrest were conducted by Deputy Michael Bentley and Lt. Mark Schweikert.

A representative of the Vinton County Sheriff’s Office stated: “As always, all suspects and arrested individuals are innocent until proven guilty in a Court of Law.”
