The Ross County Humane Society is partnering with the Vinton County Dog Warden’s office to bring a low-cost spay/neuter clinic to Vinton County residents. The clinic will be held at the Vinton County Fairgrounds on March 26.

Ross County Humane Society Executive Director Jenn Thomas states that this is a much-needed service for Vinton County residents.

“We have been hosting RASCAL Unit clinics for the last four years in Ross County and many Vinton County residents take advantage of the program,” Thomas said. “We have seen an increase of owner-requested surrenders for litters of puppies from the Vinton County community so we know there is a need for lower-cost options so we can help to prevent unplanned litters from being born. We have worked very hard to grow our program and resources over the last few years in Ross County and we understand that there just are not those same resources available in Vinton County.”

Registration will take place on Friday, March 5, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Vinton County Dog Shelter, which is located at 31479 State Route 93, McArthur. The cost for surgery will be $73 to $148 per dog, with the price dependent upon weight and gender. There are only 35 spaces available for this date and registration will close once it is full. You must pre-pay, cash only, to secure a space on the clinic and payments are non-refundable. This clinic is for dogs only and one must be a Vinton County resident to sign up.
