The Division of State Fire Marshal’s Fire and Explosion Investigation Bureau is seeking tips from the public regarding an intentionally set fire at a vacant residence in McArthur (Vinton County).

The McArthur Volunteer Fire Department responded to the report of a fire at 64513 Silverly Creek Road at 2:43 a.m. on July 27. The residence was vacant at the time of the fire with no utilities in use, and no one was injured.

The investigation is being conducted jointly by the State Fire Marshal’s office and the McArthur Volunteer Fire Department. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered by the Blue Ribbon Arson Committee for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the fire.
