A new chapter is beginning for The Enchanted Christmas Shop as owner Karen Bledsoe is moving her business from her home address in Jackson Township, to the former Christian Bookstore location behind Percelli’s Pizza at 417 South Market St. in McArthur.

Bledsoe explains the business had done well in its former location, and she says she feels a connection to the Hocking Hills crowd and has benefited from the growing tourism sector in the county. However, she believes being located in the village will be an asset because of the presence of restaurants and other business locations.

Bledsoe stated she appreciates all the people who came to the former location, but feels the main advantage is that customers can now order a pizza and shop, and while they wait, visit her shop as part of a bigger shopping trip. She also feels she will benefit from the busy traffic on State Route 93.

There will be a Grand Opening event at the new location on Friday, Aug. 7, featuring snowman cookies and grand-prize drawings with raffle tickets being drawn for snowmen.

The Enchanted Christmas Shop features many items such as Christmas trees, holiday-themed clocks, Christmas tree ornaments, angels, snow globes, Christmas throws, and many other Yuletide-season items. She also has a small collection of seasonal autumn items as many people put them up during the tail end of the year.

All major credit cards are accepted. Bledsoe says the store is decorated festively to bring out the spirit of Christmas. “Everyone needs a good Christmas,” said Bledsoe. “I think Christmas is more important to people this year because of the pandemic.”

The shop will be open in the new location from Friday, Aug. 7 until the end of the year. The daily hours will be Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the business will remain open through Dec. 31. The store will then close for a winter break, and reopen in March.

Bledsoe stated one of her signature events every year will be the big “Christmas in July” promotion and sale.  For more information, log onto her Facebook page at Enchanted Christmas Shop.
