The latest reports from the Vinton County Health Department (VCHD) indicate there have been very few new COVID-19 cases in recent days in the county.

In fact, VCHD has reported only four new COVID-19 cases in the eight-day period covering Thursday, March 25 through Thursday, April 1 which means the pace of cases is only one new case every other day. By comparison, in the seven-day period covering March 18-24, there were seven new cases logged for an average of one case per day.

Also, the number of active cases in Vinton County has dropped from 10 on March 25 to only five as of April 1. Also, there have been no new virus-related deaths and no Vinton County resident is currently hospitalized with a case of COVID-19.

Overall, since the first two local COVID-19 cases were reported in Vinton County on April 25, there have been a total of 708 confirmed cases, 85 probable cases, and 17 virus-related deaths.

Meanwhile, VCHD also reported that appointments for COVID-19 vaccinations were still available for Monday and Tuesday, April 5-6, of next week.
