The negative and lingering impacts of the coronavirus situation has resulted in a decision to cancel the 2020 Vinton County Junior Fair, which had been scheduled for July 20-25

The decision to cancel was announced late Thursday evening, May 21, after a meeting of the fair’s governing body, the Vinton County Agricultural Society, better known as the Vinton County Agricultural Society President Austin Owings and Vinton County FFA leader Rashel Fallon posted the following statement on the organizations Facebook page:

“Due to the current situation the Vinton County Agricultural Society voted on May 21, 2020 to cancel the 2020 Vinton County Junior Fair.

“Due to the increased cost of operations and new mandates it was not financially feasible to operate the fair. The plan is being put into place to contact buyers to offer participants that complete their market projects (which includes a two-minute video of your project) an option to be included in a species-specific pool, to be divided evenly among project participants.

“We are aware of the difficult situation this puts all members in and are truly sorry for the impact that this has created. We plan to make the 2021 Vinton County Junior Fair better through use of the resources that we currently have to save for future Vinton County Junior Fairs. Updates will be given to all participants as they become available.”
