WELLSTON – The Southern Ohio Colt Circuit was in Wellston for two nights of entertainment on Thursday and Friday night at the Jackson County Fair.

There were 19 races during the two nights of action, including nine on Friday night.

Ronnie Gillespie drove four winners on the eight-race card on Thursday night and three more on Friday.

He was in the sulky behind two-year-old filly Mission Valley in the first race of the night on Thursday, winning in 2:05.3. Gillespie also had driving wins in the second, fifth, and eighth races. He had three third-place finishes in the fourth, sixth and seventh races and was sixth in the third race of the night.

Other winners on Thursday include Can’t Top Me, driver Brady Clemons in the third race; VJ Panderosa, driver Dustin Bothman in the fourth race; Majorita Hill, driver Clayton Pfeifer; and Freddimo, drive John Ryan Melsheimer in the sixth race.

Gillespie, along with Alex Hawk each drove three of the winners in the 11-race card on Friday, while Brady Clemens drove two.

Gillespie was aboard Really Sam (2:03.1) in the fourth race, Give Em Hill (2:11.4) in the seventh race, and Foxtrot Patricia (2:10.1) in the nineth race.

Hawk drove April Spirit – owned by Richard Owings of McArthur, Ohio – to victory in the third race in 2:04.0. He was also in the sulky in the eighth race, driving Maude The Sheriff to victory in 2:08.0 and drove Toureg Seelster in the 10th race in 2:03.1.

Meanwhile, Brady Clemons had two wins on Friday. He won in with Vh Volt in the second race in 2:05.1 and returned to win in the sixth race with Rocks One Desire in 2:07.1.

Other winners included Charles Bolen, who entered the winners circle with Neth Going in the first race, while Jason Brewer was aboard Workinitonbroadway in the fifth race, and Allen Woolums got the drive win in the final race of the night aboard Mj’slibertyvalance.
