The 2020-21 edition of the Vinton County Lady Vikings basketball team achieved an historic season which ended with the squad advancing to the Division II State Tournament and winning a semi-final game before losing in the championship game.

Now, the Lady Vikings are reaping individual honors due to the team’s great success. The Division I and II girls’ basketball All-Ohio teams were announced Tuesday, March 30 by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association and the Lady Vikings were among the recipients of the top awards.

Vinton County head coach Rod Bentley was named as the sole winner of the Coach of the Year award in Division II. The Lady Vikings finished with a 26-2 overall record and will forever have the distinction of being the first basketball team from Vinton County High School to play in the State Tournament. They also won their fourth straight Tri-Valley Conference-Ohio Division championship.

As for the Lady Vikings players, they were highly recognized as well. Senior Morgan Bentley was named to the Division II First Team All-Ohio, an honor accorded to only 10 players in the state. Also, junior Cameron Zinn was selected to the Second Team All-Ohio and senior Myriah Davis to the Honorable Mention list.
