The Oak Hill captured a 40-25 Southern Ohio Conference Division II win on the road over the Minford Lady Falcons Monday night.

The Oaks received 20 points from Olivia Clarkson. Her tally included converting 9 of 10 (90 percent) from the free-throw line. She also had a couple of three-pointers in the mix.

Brooke Howard added eight points and Baylee Howard had seven as they added a three-pointer each. Chloe Chambers rounded out the Oak Hill scoring with five markers.

Overall, Oak Hill was 14 of 16  (87.5 percent) from the free-throw line. Oak Hill was 11 of 35 (31.4 percent) from the field, including a 4 of 12 (33.3 percent) performance from three-point range.

Livi Shonkwiler led Minford’s offense with 13 points, while Kynedi Davis chipped in eight points. Minford had 10 field goals and was 5 of 10 (50 percent) from the free-throw line.

The game started slowly as Oak Hill held a 6-5 lead after one quarter. Their only points came from the free-throw line. Clarkson hit two free throws to give Oak Hill a 5-4 lead at the 2:20 mark.

In the second quarter, Shonkwiler began to heat up offensively, as she scored 10 points. Her effort brought the Lady Falcons to within one point (17-16) at the half.  Clarkson had nine points including the Lady Oaks' first field goal at the 7:45 mark.

In the third quarter, the action was not fast. The Lady Oaks did manage to widen their lead by seven points. Howell hit a three-pointer at the 3:18 mark to give Oak Hill a 23-18 lead. Oak Hill went on to outscore Minford 10-3 in the quarter for a 27-19 lead going into the final eight minutes.

In the fourth quarter, the Lady Oaks scored 13 points to round out the win. Clarkson led the way with five while Howell and Chambers had four each.

The Lady Oaks return to action today (Wednesday) when they host Wellston in a non-conference game. They return to SOC Division II play Thursday on the road at Eastern.
