BEAVER – The Jackson Post 81 baseball team defeated against Lancaster Post 11 in its season opener on Thursday night at Eastern High School, which serves as the home field for Post 81.

Zach Bartoe threw five scoreless innings with seven strikeouts to earn the win. Hunter Cardwell threw two scoreless innings, protecting a 2-0 lead for the save.

Zane Ervin and Cardwell each doubled, while Chase Ingalls had a single, and three stolen bases to lead the offense for Post 81.

McArthur also came up with some defensive gems, including a double play by Isaac Kuhn and Ingalls, to save a run in the second inning and a diving catch by Landon Hines to save a run in the fifth.

Post 81 returned to action on Tuesday against Alexander High School at Eastern High School. They will play at Athens in a 6 p.m. start on Thursday, before return to EHS to take on Raceland, KY.
