JACKSON — The old saying is that “Iron sharpens iron.”
A clash of top 10 teams in the state saw Jackson score 12 runs in the first two innings, and claim a 14-4 victory over Zane Trace on Friday.
Caeleb McGraw and Cade Wolford each put on a show with their bats, delivering in big spots and driving in runs left and right.
Both players finished 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs each.
The Ironmen additionally benefitted from two early errors that contributed to a seven-run first inning, capped by a bases clearing double to right center field from Wolford.
They added five more runs in the second following an RBI single from Nolan Johnson, an RBI hit by pitch and then a two-run single by Bryson Brown that put the game out of reach.
Lane Erwin earned the win, pitching two innings, allowing an earned run and striking out a pair of batters.
Brown went 1-for-2 with three RBIs, while Johnson was 1-for-2 with two RBIs.
