For the second year, the Jackson High School girls’ soccer team has raised money to purchase food to be donated to the Jackson County Homelessness Committee. Each season they find businesses and patrons to donate money for every goal scored by the JHS girls’ team. Sophomore Makayla Wyant originated the donation idea during her freshman year. At the end of the season, the group will buy and pack food bags that can be distributed by the Homelessness Committee. As Wednesday night ended the regular season for their soccer season, the final goal count stood at 62. They plan to continue adding to that total through the post-season tournament. Local sponsors included Ohio Valley Bank, Kelly Wiley Realty/Keller Williams Realty, Randy Evans Construction, Fain Photography, Gwyn and Gloria Carlisle, Joe and Tami Wyant, and Shepard/Fulks Insurance.
