JACKSON – The Vinton County Vikings golf team posted a second-place finish in a quad match held at Franklin Valley Golf Course on Wednesday afternoon. Wellston finished third out of four teams that competed.

Belpre won the event, shooting an overall score of 155, while Vinton County was second with 197. Wellston finished three strokes behind the host Vikings with a 202 for third place, while Logan was fourth at 205.

Connor Copeland of Belpre captured medalist honors with a three-over-par 37, while teammates Jacob Smeeks (39) and Matt Deems (39) were runner-up medalists on the nine-hole, par 34 course.

The Vikings played solid golf, led by Eli Radabaugh, who shot eight over-par 42. Behind Radabaugh was Asa Davidson, who finished with a 15-over par 49, while Sila Allen shot 18-over par 52, and Ryan Perry finished with a 20-over par 54.

Also representing the Vikings were Adam Tichenor (56), Gavin Clark (56), Cobra Sharp (57), Connor Hamon (66), Scout White (66), and Jacob Schroeder (66).

Will Briggs took the top spot for Wellston, finishing seven over-par, with a 41.

Other individual scores for the Rockets were Josh Jackson, who finished at 18-over par 52; Logan Martin, who shot 19-over par with a 53; while Jaxon Montgomery finished with a 22-over par 56; and Joel Pelletier carded a 29-over par 61.

Vinton County and Wellston will return to Tri-Valley Conference Ohio Division golf action on Tuesday at Forest Hills Golf Course in Glouster, Ohio.
