  • All-SOC baseball teams announced
    Minford swept two of the three special honors on the Southern Ohio Conference 2021 All-SOC Baseball Team in Division II. Senior Elijah Volgelsong-Lewis was selected as the Player of the Year, while Anthony Knittel of Minford was named Coach of the Year, and Waverly’s Derek Eblin was the Pitcher of the Year in the SOC Division II.
  • SOC announces all-conference softball honors
    The Southern Ohio Conference announced the 2021 softball individual award winners and the SOC Division I and Division II teams, as selected by the conference coaches.
  • Oak Hill’s first  post-COVID-19 sports camp a success
    On June 8-10 we had our first post-COVID-19 camp at Oak Hill High School: the “Oaks Basketball Camp.” For 3 days, over 50 students from the Oak Hill Community came to the camp with energy and enthusiasm and displayed what sports is all about. When planning this camp, we were unsure what a post-COVID-19 camp would look like, but I can say without hesitation that it was an overwhelming success. I want to say a HUGE thank you to the community of Oak Hill! Parents, grandparents, and guardians all brought their enthusiastic kids to camp and let us spend two hours each day helping them improve their basketball skills.  
  • Local youth to compete at USA Powerlifting Nationals
    JACKSON – In just his second competitive powerlifting meet, Dominic Brnjic will represent his hometown of Jackson, Ohio on the grand stage, on Monday, June 14, in Daytona Beach, Florida, at the USA Powerlifting National tournament.
  • The 8th Annual Jackson Area Kiwanis Club Golf Outing will take place on Sunday, July 11 at the Franklin Valley Golf Course in Jackson. Registration will begin at 1:30 p.m. with a “shotgun start” at 2:30 p.m.
  • The 32nd Annual Franklin Valley Open will be held Saturday, June 19 and Sunday, June 20.

  • COLUMBUS, Ohio – Rain and storms predicted for the Akron area on Thursday has caused the Ohio High School Athletic Association to delay the start of the baseball state tournament until Friday. The scheduled start times and order of games all remain the same, but the state tournament will shift to a Friday-Saturday-Sunday event.
  • KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of Rio Grande freshman shortstop Caitlyn Brisker and junior outfielder Taylor Webb have been named to the 2021 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Softball All-America Second Team.
  • Local athletes compete at 2021 State Track and Field meet
    PICKERINGTON – Two local athletes from The Telegram coverage area saw their seasons end at the 2021 OHSAA State Track & Field Championship meet in Division II last Friday, at Pickerington North High School.
