Last week in this space, we introduced Telegram editorial department intern Olivia Walker to the readership. Olivia, 2019 graduate of Jackson High School has already got her feet wet covering stories about Hillcrest Pool in Jackson and Margaret Ann Pool in Oak Hill (pun intended) and has also caught up with the Jackson Area Kiwanis Club to report on their downtown flower-watering project.

This week, we would like to profile another 2019 JHS graduate, Lilianna (Annie) Waugh, whose summer internship in the Total Media office is a little bit more behind the scenes, but important as well. Annie is working in Zip Printing this summer under the supervision and tutelage of Zip Printing Print Manager Stacey Walters, who is glad to have Annie’s time and skills, even if it’s only temporary.

“We are very happy to have Annie helping us this summer,” Manager Walters commented. “She learns new tasks very quickly and has been extremely helpful so far.”

For her part, Annie is excited about the opportunity to learn more and broaden her horizons before heading off to college following the internship.

“I’m extremely excited to be joining the Total Media team this summer!” Annie commented. “I’ll be majoring in industrial design at OSU starting this August. This internship allows me to see the behind the scenes of design and the application of it to the business world. I’m learning something new every day and can’t wait to apply this information to my upcoming coursework!”

Annie has proven to be a multi-faceted assistant thus far, helping out in such areas as graphic design, printing and cutting orders, making notepads, helping with vinyl installation, delivery, and organization. She is also a whiz with websites and she will apply her talents to Total Media’s new local tourism website, where she will be updating content, working on design and taking photos. Eventually, she will turn her attention to revamping the Total Media website. Total Media includes The Radio, The Telegram and Zip Printing.

Annie, who is the daughter of Kelly and Robert Waugh, was one of the top-ranking academic students in the JHS Class of 2019 and was also active in school and extra-curricular activities.

She served as Chapter President for the Joyce Ivy Foundation at Jackson High School, and is also a member of the National Honor Society and Stage Manager of the Drama Club; in Marching Band, President of Interact, in the Art Club, Vice President of the Leos Club, President and Founder of the Society of Intersectional Studies, President of the Youth Leadership Association, President of the Senate for Youth in Government and was a Jackson Rotary Club Senior of the Month.

After her internship, Annie will head to Columbus to attend The Ohio State University and study Industrial Design with a career aim of going into the business of Eco-Friendly Production.
