To the Editor:

I am writing to express my thanks and appreciation to Jackson City Schools Superintendent, Phil Howard, and to the members of the Board of Education who voted for their common-sense decision to require everyone in the schools to wear a mask inside. Yes, they made this decision when many other school systems in the area were waiting to see what happened. Meanwhile, our children were safer in school as the Delta Variant of COVID-19 spread quickly.

My opinion is that this action probably saved lives and will continue to do so. So, speaking for myself, my family, and many friends, thank you for your courage to do the right thing for the community.
