Paul Eugene "Gene" Wilt, age 83, of Allensville, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2019 at his home. He was born Oct. 6, 1935 in Ross County, Ohio, son of the late Samuel I. Wilt, Sr. and Bernice D. Vickers Wilt.

Gene was a 1954 graduate of Vinton County High School and a veteran of the United States Army. He was a retired truck driver of 40 years and was a former employee of Waldron Lumber Company in McArthur.  Gene always enjoyed going to flea markets and playing with his grandchildren.

He is survived by five daughters, Kathy Gray (Jim) of Oak Hill, Cindy Wilt (John Holbrook) of Oak Hill, Becky Wilt of Columbus, Missi Freeman-Coleman (Ricky) of McArthur, and Barbi Brooks (Gary Andrews) of McArthur; brothers and sister, Olan "Turtle" Wilt (Pam) of Londonderry, Samuel Wilt, Jr. of Wellston, Jane Robinson of Londonderry, and Donnie Wilt of Londonderry; longtime companion, Marilyn Hunter of Hamden; along with 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. 

Besides his parents, Gene was preceded in death by brother, Robert Wilt; sister-in-law, Betty Wilt; brother-in-law, John Robinson; and one great-granddaughter. 

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Baxter officiating.  Burial, with military honors, will be in the Bell Cemetery in Allensville.  Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.mcwilliams-funeralhome.com.
