On the 19th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorists’ attack on America, the Wellston Golden Rockets donned military-style uniforms last Friday night, Sept. 11,  for their home game against Albany Alexander. The game was sponsored by the National Guard, which also provided the game jerseys. Pictured are the Rockets as they run onto the field with players up front carrying the American flag, two U.S. Army flags and the Wellston High School flag. The Rockets also looked good once the game started as they defeated Alexander 40-0 to improve their record to 3-0. For complete coverage of the football games involving the Rockets, the Jackson Ironmen, the Oak Hill Oaks, and the Vinton County Vikings, see the sports pages, B1-B3 in The Telegram’s Sept. 16th issue.
