Jackson’s resident brewery may be still be one of the new kids on the block, but it is already validating itself as one of the top breweries in Southern Ohio.

The Sixth Sense Brewing Co., located at 175 E. Main St. on the edge of downtown Jackson, recently claimed several major awards at the 2020 Ohio Craft Brewers Cup competition. The competition involved 49 breweries and 335 beers and was judged by 17 professional brewers.

Sixth Sense gained the prestigious regional honor of being named the best brewery in Southeastern Ohio. Also, its Murk Juice beer won “gold” honors while its Ossec beer won “silver” honors.

The Sixth Sense Brewing Co., which also operates a public taproom with food service at the same location, was established on Feb. 24, 2017, and is described as a “nano brewery and taproom specializing in craft beers and cocktails.” Its kitchen serves burritos, bowls, salads, quesadillas, tacos and more and has become a popular nighttime gathering spot for local and area residents.

Co-owners Jamey and Jennifer Ratcliff, also own and operate the adjacent Arch & Eddie’s Gathering Place, which is one of Jackson County’s most popular restaurants. The husband/wife duo are delighted with the brewery’s awards and also the support it has received from the public.

“We are so proud of our team and thankful for all of the support that we constantly receive,” Jennifer Ratcliff posted on the Sixth Sense Facebook page. “Special congratulations to our brewers, Donard Bowling and Grant Foster, for all of their hard work and for constantly pumping out so many quality brews for us here.”

As for the Sixth Sense customers…

“We wanted to take a minute to yet again say thank you to all of you that so aggressively support us,” Jennifer Ratcliff commented. “We appreciate all of you so, so much and in such a wild year it means even more that you continually choose to support this little taproom and brewery.”
