A young Oak Hill man was cited by police after his pickup truck ran off State Route 93 (Front Street) in Oak Hill at 3:49 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, and struck the rear door of the Trend Center beauty salon at 101 E. Main St.

According to Oak Hill Police Chief David P. Ward, Brandon Woolever, 20, of Oak Hill, was driving a 1995 model Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck northbound on State Route 93 at the Main Street intersection when he failed to stop as he approached vehicles in front of him which were stopped for a red light at the Cross Street intersection. To avoid hitting those vehicles, Woolever stated he drove his truck off the right side of the roadway, but wound up striking a utility pole and the back door of the building where the Trend Center is located. Woolever later told police that his brakes had failed.

Woolever sustained minor cuts, but refused treatment at the scene from Jackson County EMS. There was nobody inside the Trend Center at the time of the crash and there was only minimal damage to the door. Police cited Woolever with failure to control.
