A Madison Township resident's pickup truck was destroyed in a fire late Monday afternoon, March 2, at his Thurman area residence.

The Madison-Jefferson Fire Department was summoned at approximately 5:50 p.m. to the residence of Dane Erwin at 1814 State Route 279, Oak Hill, which is located about one mile west of Thurman. The Centerville Fire Department provided mutual aid.

Erwin's pickup truck, which had a camper attached, ignited while it was parked in the driveway. Erwin told firefighters he had been trying to start the truck a short time before the fire started. The truck was destroyed and there was lighter damage to a portion of the camper.

Firefighters were on the scene for about an hour.
