One of the longest-standing local restaurants in Wellston has closed down temporarily in the face of the coronavirus threat.

Owner/Operator Lucinda Kessler announced Monday evening that Lee’s Steakhouse, located at 1130 South Pennsylvania Avenue in Wellston, was closing temporarily, effective as of 6 p.m. Monday. The restaurant did not open for business on Tuesday and Kessler stated it would remain closed “until further notice”.

Lee’s and many other sit-down restaurants were greatly impacted by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s March 15th order to close the dine-in service of all restaurants and bars in Ohio. These establishments were not ordered to close, but could provide service by carryout and delivery only. Lee’s had offered carryout service since this order.

Kessler offered the following statement regarding her decision to temporarily close Lee’s Steakhouse: “We believe it is time to do what we can to protect our employees and patrons, plus do what we can to slow this down.”
