-- The Autism Awareness/Acceptance event, which had been scheduled for Saturday, March 28, at the Jackson Walmart store has been postponed until further notice due to the coronavirus situation. Contacts will be made with those who ordered T-shirts.

-- The Jackson-Vinton Habitat for Humanity Board meeting that was scheduled for Monday evening, March 23, was postponed and has been rescheduled for Monday, April 26.

-- The First Presbyterian Church of Jackson is suspending all activities till further notice, including Friday Feasts. “In light of the Stay at Home order, all activities at the First Presbyterian Church in Jackson are suspended until further notice, and this includes the Friday Feasts. The church will be monitoring the situation with the orders from the state, and will make further decisions as soon as they can.”

-- Compel Ministry in Wellston has announced that its annual Easter Egg Hunt has been postponed, but will be rescheduled at some point in the future even if it cannot be done until the fall months.

-- The Wellston High School Play, Lion King, Jr. was postponed from its original dates of March 20-22, but has been rescheduled for the weekend of April 24-26.

-- The Jackson Bowhunters Whitetails Unlimited Banquet – originally set for Saturday, March 28 – has been postponed and has now been RESET for May 16. (Initially, the rescheduled date was May 30, but it has been changed to May 16.) Social hour will begin at 5 p.m. and the dinner at 6:30 p.m., at the Canter’s Cave Lodge, 1362 Caves Road near Jackson. Tickets cost $40 each for a single; $20 for a spouse and $20 for a junior. -- Effective Monday, March 23, the Markay Cultural Arts Center at 259 E. Main St. in downtown Jackson will be closed to the public at least through Wednesday, April 22. This includes all events, activities, programs and the gallery. The current gallery exhibit of photographer Michael Mankin, which opened on Thursday, March 12, will be extended.

-- The Friends of Lake Alma organization has announced it has postponed its annual Lake Alma Clean-Up Day, which had been for Saturday morning, April 25. The park remains open for hiking fishing walking and other recreation; however, visitors are asked to practice social distancing and avoid large gatherings.

-- Buckeye Community Services has announced that its March Down Main Street event, set for Friday, March 27, in Jackson, has been postponed.

-- The Jackson Apple Festival Little Queens Contest, set for Friday, April 10, and the Jackson Apple Festival Queens Contest, set for Saturday, April 11, have both been postponed until further notice.

-- The Jackson Band Boosters group has canceled its annual Spring Fling fundraiser, which had been set for Saturday, April 4.

-- The Grace United Methodist Church of Jackson has announced it is canceling the concert featuring the group, SonShine, which was to have been held on Sunday evening, March 29.

--The Wellston Rotary Club has announced that it is canceling its annual Rotary Show, which had been scheduled for Friday and Saturday, April 12-13.

-- The Wellston American Legion Post 371 has announced it will not be conducting its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 11. This is due to the state mandate prohibiting large gatherings.

-- The Madison-Jefferson Bingo Club has canceled its regularly scheduled Bingo sessions on Saturday evenings. Bingo will resume after the coronavirus restrictions are lifted.

-- Lake Hope State Park in Vinton County has been directed to cancel all programs and close the Nature Center through the end of March. The staff will be taking it week by week after that. The Dining Lodge remains open and cabins and campsites are still available for bookings.

-- The First Presbyterian Church of Wellston has canceled its public services for the next two Sundays, March 29 and April 5. However, those services can be viewed on the church’s Facebook page. 

-- The Bingo games at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Hall in Wellston have been canceled until further notice.

-- The Oak Hill High School spring musical, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, which was to have been performed on the weekend of March 27-29, has been postponed indefinitely.

-- The annual Troop 57 Boy Scout Dinner and Auction has been postponed and has been reset for Saturday evening, April 18 at the same time and place.

-- The Jackson Rotary Club has canceled its weekly luncheon meeting until further notice.

-- Buckeye Hills Career Center is canceling this year’s EXPO that was set for April 18, due to the coronavirus pandemic and precautions.

-- The Jackson High School Drama Club’s production of Matilda, the Musical, has been postponed. The play had been scheduled for the weekend of March 27-29.

-- Due to the governor’s ban of large gatherings being defined as 100 or more, the Jackson BPW’s Murder Mystery Dinner, which had been set for Saturday, March 21, has been postponed to October 3. Pre-sold tickets will be honored for the October 3 date.
