Jackson County Engineer Melissa Miller recently oversaw a bid opening for a project that aims to replace a bridge on Lake Katharine Road in Jackson.

A total of five bids were received and opened during the May 24 meeting of the Jackson County Commissioners. The company U.S. Bridge bid $530,840.88; Wolf Creek Contracting bid $371,754.57; George J. Igle & Co. bid $469,600; Geiger Brothers bid $455,554; and DGM Inc. bid $349,000.

Engineer Miller will now review the bid packages and select the lowest and best submission. She said that, as this project is being funded by Ohio Public Works Commission monies, the contract will likely not be awarded until after July 1.
