The home stands at Jackson's Alumni Stadium were packed with fans Saturday afternoon, Sept. 25 as the Apple Festival Band Show took place. The host band was the Jackson High School Marching Ironmen, under the direction of Ryan Hurd, who took the field for the opening ceremonies and once again to close the show.

There were 11 bands in the show, including the Oak Hill Marching Oaks, under the direction of Bryce Werntz, and the Vinton County Marching Vikings, under Casey Knox's direction. Other area bands included the Adena Warriors, Alexander Spartans, Granville Aces, Piketon Redstreaks, South Gallia Rebels, Waverly Tigers, Wheelersburg Marching Pirate Band, and Xenia Marching Buccaneers.

The crowd was entertained by Total Media Radio personality Matt McKee, who hosts the morning show on WKOV 96.7 FM, and who is also the public-address announcer for Jackson High School football games. He kept the crowd entertained by telling good (and bad) band jokes. McKee also introduced all the acts and congratulated the bands for their excellent work on the field.

As the show ended, each band was given a participation trophy, while Xenia High School also took home the Spirit Award, which was the only separately presented trophy at the event. Most of the bands also stayed and participated in the Apple Festival Grand Finale Parade, which took place later that same evening.
