Adena Health Center - Jackson is spreading its wings in Jackson as its Occupational Health Unit is expanding from its building at 1000 Veterans Drive to an adjacent office building at 920 Veterans Drive, Suite E.

Staffers and patients won’t have to go far to find the new facility as it’s situated just a few steps away on the other side of the current parking lot. The new location will have its own identity as well as its own building and will be known as Adena Occupational Health - Jackson.

The expansion and  move were celebrated Wednesday afternoon, June 15, when the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce conducted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new location following the completion of an interior renovation project intended to convert the space to meet the professional needs.

The event was attended by representatives of Adena Health System, the Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce, and the general contractor, Stockmeister Enterprises of Jackson; Jackson Mayor Randy Evans and Jackson County Economic Development Partnership President and CEO Sam Brady, among others.

Adena Occupational Health - Jackson, which opened for business on Thursday, June 16, will have 2,150 square feet of space, which is more than double what it had at the Health Center building. The additional space will enable the staff to service more customers. The regular hours of operation will be 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Adena Occupational Health - Jackson offers a wide array of services that include: Drug and alcohol screenings, hearing and vision screenings, immunizations and flu shots, laboratory and x-rays, pre-employment screenings, physical exams (DOT physicals, fitness-for-duty, OSHA surveillance exams, and more), respirator clearance, and worksite services (onsite drug screenings, post-injury management, vaccinations, and more).

“As the business community in this area grows, we are excited to be growing with it,” said Andrea Crace, Director of Occupational Health. “Now was the right time for us to move to a new dedicated space that is centered on workplace wellness solutions with better accessibility and increased hours of operation. This facility also gives us room to grow our services and add new health care providers, keeping local workforces healthy and productive and helping injured workers return to work safely.”

Adena representatives indicated the vacated space at the main building will likely be used to provide room for different medical specialty services.

Jackson Area Chamber of Commerce Co-Executive Director Bryan Leach offered welcoming remarks, then introduced Adena Health System President and CEO Jeffrey Graham, who expressed his pleasure that Adena Health System was happy to be part of the growth which has been taking place in the Jackson area.

“This is an exciting day for us to be able to expand services here locally again,” Graham said. “Yes, we are excited about expanding our services, but it is really a reflection on this community and how it continues to grow. And being able to grow with the community is a big deal for us.”

He added, “One of the strategic priorities in our organization is partnerships because it doesn’t take just one organization to make things happen, it takes a community of organizations, and to be able to be part of this growth is really exciting, and to see everything in Jackson continue to grow.”

Graham noted that the Chillicothe-based Adena Health System has had a presence in Jackson since 1996 when it operated from a relatively small office building on Water Street. The success and growth of  its local business promoted the construction of the current Adena Health Center - Jackson building, which was opened in 2003. Stockmeister Enterprises, which was the general contractor for that project, also was the contractor for the renovation/remodeling project at 920 Veterans Drive, Suite E.

Previously, that location served as the former home of the then Hubbard & Hubbard accounting office; then later as the home of the Jackson County Banking Center of the Vinton County National Bank.

Immediately following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the Chamber conducted a Business After Hours event at Stockroom 601 in Jackson, which was jointly sponsored by Adena and Stockmeister Enterprises. Those attending had the opportunity to network, socialize and enjoy a buffet.
