The Jackson Area YMCA recently completed its 2nd Annual Christmas Decoration Competition which invited residents throughout Jackson County to participate. The winners were announced on Sunday, Dec. 20.

“We had 38 participants in this year’s competition, spread throughout our wonderful county,” Jackson Area YMCA Director Tim Harvey stated. “It was a very tough competition! Thank you to everyone who worked so hard in decorating their homes.”

Harvey explained the Jackson Area YMCA set up two groups to cover the county. The first group went to the Wellston/Coalton area and the second team traveled around the Jackson/ Oak Hill area. The judges were: Derek Gilbert, Sydney Gilbert, Linda Akers, Teresa Tenpenny, Sarah Fox, and Tim Harvey. Five trophies were handed out by the first group and seven by the second group.

“It was a huge success,” Harvey told The Telegram. “There were tears of joy from those that received the awards.”

The winners were as follows:

Wellston/Coalton - Randy and Bonnie Byus, Jeff and Kathy Dotson, Tiffany Leach, Beth Powell, and Jessica Fain.

Jackson/Oak Hill - Ashley Aldrich, Betsy Gee, Krystal Newman, Jennifer Cornelius Riegel and family, Jeffery Seitz, and Erica Eades. The name of another winner was not immediately available.
