Transforming Lives Thru Christ (TLC Ministries) will be resuming its weekly Food Giveaway event this Thursday, Sept. 17, but at a different location than usual -- the Jackson County Fairgrounds on Meadow Run Road in Wellston.

TLC Ministries Director Terry Witt explained that the location for this week’s Food Giveaway was switched to the fairgrounds from the old Pants Factory lot on Second Street in downtown Wellston due to the closing of Second Street this week for a railroad-crossing replacement project. The Food Giveaway events will continue on a weekly basis each Thursday, starting at 10 a.m. and ending at approximately 1 p.m. or whenever the food supplies are exhausted.

“We will be resuming the CFAP [Coronavirus Food Assistance Program] USDA Produce and Food Boxes Giveaway once a week,” Witt explained in a Facebook post forwarded to The Telegram. “This is the same Giveaway we did all summer, but with mandatory changes.”

Recipients must live in Jackson County. Household income must be at or below the Household Eligibility Guidelines to receive food from the State- and/or Federal-funded food assistance programs. An example is, a household size of one person can earn $480 per week. A family of four can earn $990 per week. Additional breakdowns are available on the Eligibility-to-Take-Food-Home form. Recipients must also bring an ID and complete a required form.

TLC Ministries is now required to collect the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Eligibility-to-Take-Food-Home form. This is the standard form recipients are required to fill out at all food pantries.

“You must fill out a form even if you have been to the TLC Ministries Pantry before,” Witt advised.

TLC Ministries has placed these forms at multiple locations all around Jackson County. These locations include: Jackson: Save-A-Lot, Handy Mart, Stonecrest Apartments, and the Post Office; Oak Hill: Piggly Wiggly, Main Express, Mayor’s Office, Giovanni’s, and Post Office; Coalton: Pit Stop; Wellston: Piggly Wiggly, Compel Ministries, Sunoco, The Store, Wells Manor, and Life Source Church. Forms can also be picked up at the TLC Ministries location at 22783 State Route 93, Wellston (at Glen Roy).

“You will need to bring a completed form to the event along with an ID with a current address,” Witt noted. “Once we have a form, you will only need to show ID each time you come. Blank forms will be available at the event, but you will need to fill it out before getting to the food area of the line. Every family represented in a car will need at least one family member with an ID showing current residence. We may limit number of families per car depending on space in vehicle.”
