The 151st Annual Rio Grande Bean Dinner will take place on Saturday, Aug. 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the University of Rio Grande Bob Evans Shelter House. Admission is $4 for ages 10 and up, while children ages 9 and under enter for free; all veteran, firemen, first responders and all who “serve and sacrifice” are also admitted free. Admission entitles all to all the beans, crackers, coffee, and water that they can eat and drink. It is supplemented by homemade cornbread, pies, and soft drinks at an additional cost. An extra bucket of beans will cost $5.

Pre-Program: Civil War Music

9 a.m.: Grandma Gatewood Fun Run/Hike

9:30 a.m.: Blue Barrel Critical Mass Warmup

10 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Jamie Merry Acoustic at the Race Stage

10:30 a.m.: “The Flying Chicken” Mountain Bike Time Trial

11 a.m.: Flag Raising (VFW Post 4464 and Cadot Blessing Camp); National Anthem (Jenny Dyer Henchey); Invocation (Pastor Jamie Sisson, Fellowship of Faith); Welcome (Ryan Smith, University of Rio Grande President)

11:15 a.m.: Beans Served

11:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.: Shannon Mayes – Fly Fishing

12:30 p.m. – 1 p.m.: Steve Free, award-winning musician and singer performing for the SUVWC

12:30 p.m.: Marjorie Wood – Artifacts of Grandma Gatewood

1 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.: Entertainment; Civil War Skit on Stage; $150 veterans’ raffle drawing; Recognition of all veterans, firemen, first responders and all who “serve and sacrifice.”

2 p.m.: Grandma Gatewood Trail Hiking; Cadot Blessing Camp 126; Loading and Firing of a Civil War weapon and displays

3 p.m.: Conclusion of 151st Bean Dinner
