Award-winning freelance outdoors/travel writer, guidebook author and Ohio native, Robert Loewendick, has featured his choices for the 50 best tent-camping destinations in the Buckeye State in his new book entitled, Best Tent Camping: Ohio. Among Loewendick’s top choices is Vinton County’s Lake Alma State Park.

According to a recent press release from Loewendick’s publishing company, Menasha Ridge Press, the book presents private, state park and state forest campgrounds, organized into six regions. Selections are based on location, topography, size and overall appeal. Every site is rated for beauty, privacy, spaciousness, quietness, security and cleanliness.

Lake Alma State Park received its highest ratings for security and cleanliness. The author also notes that, “this pleasing little park and lake are set in the Appalachian Highlands.”
