Local high school artists on display at Markay

A reception was held Thursday, May 19 at the Markay Cultural Arts Center in Jackson for the annual high school art showcase. This year’s show features 20 works of art created by students from Oak Hill and Jackson high schools. At Thursday night’s reception, Southern Hills Arts Council President Matthew Wilson presented awards to three of the students. Samanthah Mariner (pictured with OHHS art instructor Angela Richards) won First Place for Oak Hill for her piece

, and Best of Show went to Rosie Marcum from Jackson for her marker drawing

The show will be on display until Sunday, June 5.
