Mary Louise Rupert Perkins, 92, of Wellston, Ohio, surrounded by her family, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, May 12, 2018, at Holzer Assisted Living in Jackson, Ohio. She was born in Wellston on Feb. 17, 1926, to the late John E. Rupert and Edith Carr Rupert.

She was a 1944 graduate of Wellston High School and married her husband, Oscar Robert Perkins, who passed away on Feb. 18, 2006. They raised four daughters: Diane Richards (Hugh Wilson) of Wellston; Linda Roberts (Terry) of Wellston; Priscilla "Pete" DePue of Plantation, Florida, and Iris "Jorji" Milliken (David) of Wilkesville. Mary was also blessed with nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

She retired after 26 years as an administrative assistant for the University of Rio Grande. She devoted years of dedicated service to the First Presbyterian Church of Wellston where she was an Elder, Deacon, and Sunday school teacher. She was a volunteer at My Brother's Place and a member of the Wellston Senior Citizens, the Wellston Historical Association, the Southern Hills Arts Council, and American Legion Post #371, where she enjoyed playing cards with her "euchre friends." Mary stayed very active by hiking, camping, horseback riding, and traveling throughout Europe, Canada, and the Western U.S.A.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, James, John, and Joseph Rupert. Along with her daughters and grandchildren, she is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Sara Rupert Abele of Jackson and Phyllis Drummonds of Dayton, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the First Presbyterian Church of Wellston on Thursday after 11 a.m. and until the funeral hour at 1 p.m. John Pelletier CLP will officiate the services, and burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery. The family politely requests that memorials in Mary Louise's memory be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Wellston, 18 South Pennsylvania Avenue, Wellston, Ohio, 45692. Arrangements are by the Jenkins Funeral Chapel.
