JACKSON - The Jackson Ironmen had their hopes of another late-game victory halted, 42-36, Friday night by Western Brown in a non-league matchup at Alumni Stadium.

WILLOW WOOD - In what may well be the final meeting ever between Oak Hill and Symmes Valley, the Oaks scored on five of their first six possessions Friday night and rolled to a lopsided 40-0 victory over the Vikings in Southern Ohio Conference Division I opener.

FOOTBALL: Vikings lose to Marauders in overtime
McARTHUR - The Vinton County Vikings varsity football team (1-3 overall; 0-1 vs. Tri-Valley Conference, Ohio Division opponents) suffered an overtime loss at the hands of the Meigs Marauders (1-3; 1-0 vs. TVC-Ohio) by a score of 27-21 on Friday night. The Vikings managed to stay competitive in a game, which - on paper - appeared to be dominated by the Marauders. Vinton County nearly pulled out the win with help from costly turnovers and penalties by Meigs.

BOYS SOCCER: Jackson boys' soccer wins 1-0 in FAC match over Miami Trace
WASHINGTON - Freshman Nolan Haislop delivered the lone goal of the match with 20:35 remaining in the second half and goalkeeper Ty Broermann and the defense made it stand to give the Jackson Ironmen soccer team a 1-0 shutout at Miami Trace in a Frontier Athletic Conference on Thursday evening.
