The Vinton County Lady Vikings continued positioning themselves well for the postseason with a straight set 25-22, 25-14. 25-16 Tri-Valley Conference Ohio Division win over the River Valley Lady Raiders Thursday on the home court. Lady Viking Head Coach Ashley Graves recently told The Telegram she wants to finish strong at the end of the season and get the best draw they can for the sectionals and hopefully beyond.. She stated they would love to win out and revenge an earlier season loss at Nelsonville-York.
With the win, the Lady Vikings improve to 13-7 (7-4 in TVC Ohio,) serving continues to play an active role in the Lady Vikings surge as they had15 aces. Maylea Huff had five while Lacy Ward and Cameron Zinn had three each to their credit. The Lady Vikings had 22 kills as Syndey Smith led with six while Cameron Zinn and Maylea Huff had four each. Huff also had three blocks while Zinn was the set leader with 13. The Lady Vikings had seven digs as a team as Kerrigan Ward led the way with 21, Lacy Ward had 13, Cameron Zinn had 12 while Josie Hembree chipped in with nine,
the Lady Vikings end the season by traveling to Southeastern Ross Monday, Meigs Tuesday and closing out the season Thursday when hosting Nelsonville York. The game against the Lady Buckeyes will be senior night as Maylea Huff and Lacey Stapleton will be recognized.
