TRACK: Vinton County girls second, boys fourth in TVC Invitational

On Wednesday, May 2, the Tri-Valley Conference Track & Field Invitational was held at Athens High School.

Rylee Fee and Maylea Huff each received All-TVC honors for one of their events. Fee was All-TVC in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 12:22, while Huff was awarded All-TVC for her first-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.78.

Fee and Huff both finished tied for third for the high point award. The Lady Vikings placed second overall at the meet.

Fee not only won the 3,200-meter run, but she placed second in the 1,600-meter run. She was also on the 4x800-meter relay team that placed second, along with Olivia Mayers, Lilly Chevalier, and Emily Reynolds.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Chevalier, Tristen Kirby, Mayers, and Faith White placed second.

Huff placed second in the 300-meter hurdles, including sixth in both the long jump and shot put.

Sara White placed second in the 100-meter hurdles, while Mayers finished second in the 800-meter run.

Kirby placed third in 300-meter hurdles, Lizzy Mullins was fourth in the 100-meter dash as well as the 200-meter dash.

The 4x100-meter relay team with Kirby, Mayers, Mullins and, Sara White placed fourth. Alyssa McKinniss placed fourth in the 800-meter run and sixth in pole vault. The 4x200-meter relay team of Kirby, Mullins, Faith White and Sara White placed fourth, while Jessica Logsdon had a fourth-place finish in the discus.

Chevalier finished fifth in the 1,600-meter run and high jump. Lexie Walker placed fifth in the 3,200-meter run and Faith White was sixth in the 400-meter dash.

In the boys' portion of the meet, the Vikings placed fourth, less than two points away from third.

Okey Fitzwater placed second in the 110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles. Fitzwater also had a fourth-place finish in the high jump.

Other second-place finishers were Logan Baker in the shot put and Elijah Williams in the long jump.

The 4x200-meter relay team (Ricky Body, Boomer Herrold, Fitzwater, Williams) came in fourth. Other fourth-place finishers were Baker in the discus and Body in the long jump.

The 4x800-meter relay team of Austin Hill, Austin Hitte, Blake Holsinger, and Kobe Mullins had a fourth-place finish, while the 4x100-meter relay team of Body, Bradley Congrove, Eli Griffith, and Herrold, placed fifth.

Other fifth-place finishers were Eli Griffith in the high jump and Williams in the 100-meter dash.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Body, Herold, Hill, and Williams also had a fifth-place finish, while Hitte finished in sixth-place in the 3,200-meter run and Herold was seventh in the 100-meter dash.

The Wellston boys' team placed seventh. Their 4x800 team placed third, which consisted of Justen Anderson, Zach Nadler, Dray Remy, and Aiden Thorne. John Dupree had a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash and Anderson was sixth in both the 800 and 1600-meter events.

Vinton County and Wellston return to action on Tuesday, May 15 and Saturday, May 19 at the Division II District Championships at Meigs High School.
