BOWLING: Season ends in district tourney for Ironmen
HEATH - In its inaugural season in the sport of bowling, the Jackson Ironmen boys' team saw its season end in the Division I district tournament at Park Lanes in Heath, Ohio last Saturday.
Jackson had a respectable showing but saw its season come to a close with an eighth-place finish with just the top team and the top individual bowler not on the winning team advancing to the state tournament in Columbus.
Zanesville was the team champion with a total pin count of 4,133 and Aaron Streitenberg of Logan, who finished with a 708 series, was district champion.
Hillsboro was runner-up with a score of 4,069, followed by Logan (3,998), New Philadelphia (3,970), Maysville (3,800), Dover (3,502), Chillicothe (2,883) and Jackson (2,883).
The Ironmen rolled a three-game series of 2,079, following games of 761, 691, and 627.
They recorded scores of 140, 139, 119, 118, 145, and 143 for a six-game baker total of 804 and a total pin count of 2,883.
Gabriel Lanhart was the top-placer for Jackson, finishing 28th with games of 196, 153, and 112 for a three-game series of 461.
Adam Fahrer rolled games of 125, 144, and 137 for a total series of 406 to finish 30th in the individual standings.
Shawn Howard, who finished 31st with individual games of 123, 138, and 134 for a 395 series was third on the Ironmen squad.
Other Jackson totals from last Saturday were John Hill 176, 126= 302; Keelan Kilgour - 141, 130= 271; and Raymond Cheatom - 140= 140.
Jackson had one substitution, who rolled a 104 game.
