The Oak Hill Lady Oaks turning in an excellent effort Thursday night against the Portsmouth West Lady Senators but fell short in a five set 22-25, 25-20, 14-25, 25-27, 12-15 Southern Ohio Conference Division II contest. The win leaves Oak Hill with a 1-16 record (1-10 SOC) as they earned their first victory with a win over Minford Tuesday night.
Against the Lady Senators, Oak Hill started with the fifth game off well as Bryanna Boggs came up with a kill to give the Lady Oaks a 1-0 lead. However, the Lady Senators went on to gain offensive momentum until Caitlyn Brisker came up with a kill to leave Oak Hill down 8-4.Oak Hill started a comeback that hit its peak with Ross came up with a kill to leave the Lady Oaks down by 11-10 but the Lady Senators went on and pulled out the win
In the fourth game, the Lady Oaks played well and forced the final game.
The Lady Oaks jumped off to a big lead as Boggs delivered an ace to give Oak Hill a 5-1 lead. Later, Oak Hill took a 14-5 lead on a kill by Taylor Ross and went on to secure the win. The second game was also positive for the Oaks as Peyton Miller came up with a kill to give the Lady Oaks a 17-16 lead and propelled them to the win.
Even though it was a loss,, Oak Hill played their best volleyball in game three coming down the stretch. With the Oaks down 24-23, Kylee Myers delivered an ace to tie the score and Abby Meldick came up with a kill to ties the game at 25. The Lady Senators though were able to come up with the two points they need to take game three and put it in their column. The Lady Senators pulled out a close first game too to give them the early advantage in the tightly-contested game. Oak Hill was led by Brisker with 8 kills while Ross had six to her credit.
The Lady Oaks return action Monday against Wellston in a non-conference home game. Tuesday night they hit the road at South Webster in a SOC Division II contest and will close out the regular season Thursday October 12 against Northwest in SOC Division II game.
