WILLIAMSPORT - The Jackson Ironmen golf team saw its 2017 season come to an end on Thursday in the Division I sectional tournament at Crown Hill Golf Club in Williamsport, Ohio.
Playing through the rain, the Ironmen placed fifth to finish 11 strokes behind Athens.
However, Jackson had two individual qualifiers, as Aiden Massie and Kole Weaver qualified for one of the four individual spots in the district tournament, which begins on Tuesday, at Eagle Sticks in Zanesville, Ohio.
Massie led the Ironmen with a 92 and Weaver finished one-stroke behind with a 93.
"Aiden shot the best score for the team and played well all day except for the 18th hole where he put two ball in the pond," said Jackson head coach Kevin Bowman. "But he rallied and played great on the front nine.
"Kole was also consistent throughout the day with only a couple of bad holes. His day could have been a lot better but he could not get his putter working on the wet greens."
Marietta shot a 331 team score to win the sectional championship and earn on of the four district qualifying spots, while Sheridan, who shot 341 was the runner up. Warren was third with a 348 and Athens finished fourth with a 374.
Jackson (385) was fifth, followed by Chillicothe (426), Hillsboro (428) and Logan (448).
Massie shot rounds of 43-49 in the 18-hold round to finish 14th overall in the individual results, while Weaver was 15th with rounds of 46 and 47.
Ethan Mercer finished 20th with a 95, Trase Speakman finished 28th with a 105 and Cooper Donaldson finished 30th with a 105.
