A final salute to Sgt. Deck
On Tuesday, July 17, many Jackson County and Vinton County residents lined the local route of the procession to the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston for U.S. Army Sgt. Michael Deck, who died July 10 at his residence in Fayetteville, North Carolina at the age of 31. Sgt. Deck had strong family and personal connections to Jackson and Vinton counties. These Wellston residents were standing on Pennsylvania Avenue in Wellston to show their respect. From the left, are: Tiffany Remy, Tammy Spencer, Logan Remy, Alicia Claar, and Tyler Claar. Sgt. Local residents in Vinton and Jackson counties turned out in large numbers Tuesday afternoon to show their respect for Michel Deck, the 31-year-old U.S. Army Sergeant, whose body was returned home for a funeral and burial.
