Pictured are the 2009-2010 Wellston High School cheerleaders who brought a state championship to Wellston last March. Next week, they will be in the community spotlight once again as the grand marshals for the 2010 Wellston Coal Festival. On March 7 while in state competition at Pickerington, the 15-member WHS cheerleading squad earned the title of OASSA State Cheerleading and Dance Champions for Non-Mount teams in the Division III category. Prior to attaining the state championship, Wellston cheerleaders had captured runner-up honors two previous years. The team roster for 2009-2010 was: Seniors Beth Essman, Chelsie Folden, Ciara Thompson, Jourdan Smith and Courtney Rippeth, juniors Sami Henry, Abby Riley and Kelsi Starcher, sophomores Kristen Boch, Kelsey Brown, Jordi Coulter and Josie Zinn and freshmen Taylor Avery, McKennah Robinson and Tori Wiseman. The coaches were Cindi Graham and Karen Boch.
