A fire of an undetermined cause destroyed a house north of Oak Hill in Franklin Township on Wednesday night, Aug. 8. Jackson city firefighters were called at 9:03 p.m. to the residence of the William Tribble family at 7494 State Route 93, which is located next to the Strickland Sales and Service business several miles north of Oak Hill. The house was owned by Sandra Parsons of Reedsville, Tennessee. The initial calls reportedly came from several passing motorists who saw flames and smoke as there was reportedly no one home when the fire started. Mutual aid was immediately requested from the Madison-Jefferson Fire Department and the Bloomfield Township Fire Department. Jackson Fire Chief Dave Channell declared the house a total loss. There were no injuries reported. In addition to the fire departments, the Oak Hill Police Department, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Jackson County EMS, the American Red Cross and AEP Ohio were all on the scene. Both lanes of State Route 93 were closed for almost three hours during the fire.
