The filing deadline for inclusion on this year's Jackson County primary election ballot for a number of respective offices was Wednesday, Feb. 7 and the Jackson County Board of Elections has released the list of candidates.
In the race for a seat on the Jackson County Board of Commissioners, current Jackson City Councilman Jon Hensler will now be joined by former longtime Jackson City School Board member Randy Evans on the republican ticket. Another contested race, Wellston City Auditor Chris Dupree, current Deputy County Auditor Tiffany Ridgeway and Coalton Council President Jim Milliken have all announced candidacy for the position of Jackson County Auditor.
With regard to state-level issues, Kris D. Blanton, Marie Hoover and Kathleen Crites Madden are all vying to serve as judge of the Fourth District Court of Appeals. Current local Republican State Central Committee member Phil Bowman will be on May 8 ballots, but with no opposition, as will State Representative Ryan Smith (R-93), also for that same office.
Finally, on the federal level current U.S. Congressman Bill Johnson will be joined by fellow republican Shawna A. Roberts for a chance to serve the people of Ohio Sixth District.
An official certification date has been set for Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 4:30 p.m. to verify all of these candidacies.
