Jackson Police officers arrested a North Carolina man following an incident at the Save-A-Lot store parking lot at 71 Huron St. at 8:44 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7. Officers detained Douglas Hariston, 20, of Winston-Salem, N.C. after seeing him run across the parking lot without a shirt on and with grass and leaves on his person. Officers detected an odor of alcohol on Hariston and he admitted he had been drinking. A breath test indicated he was heavily intoxicated. Police charged Hariston with Disorderly Conduct By Intoxication and he was held in custody at the Jackson Police Station for six hours.
Traffic stop results in DUS charge in Jackson
At 11:02 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 8, Jackson Police officers were on patrol on East Main Street when they detected a vehicle being driven by a woman whom they recalled had a suspended driver's license. A traffic stop was made at the Mike's One Stop lot at 970 E. Main St. and it was confirmed that the driver, Melissa Curtis, of 333 Mill St., Jackson, was driving with a suspended driver's license. She told police she was aware of that fact, but was just dropping off the vehicle to someone else. Police charged her with Driving Under Suspension and her vehicle was impounded.
Driver cited after wreck at Bridge-State intersection
JPD was called to the scene of a two-car wreck which occurred at 4:54 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6 at the intersection of Bridge and State streets. According to police, a car driven by Andrew Hutchison, 61, of Keystone Furnace Road, Jackson, was stationary at a red light when it was struck in the rear by a car driven by Michael Bartram, 56, of 254 E. Main St., Jackson. Nobody was injured, but damages were listed as "disabling" for Hutchison's car and as "moderate" for Bartram's. Police cited Bartram with Failure To Provide Assured Clear Distance Ahead.
Jackson Police cite driver for DUS, Speeding
Jackson Police officers were on patrol at 1:34 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4 when they encountered a vehicle which was being driven at an apparent high rate of speed on Florence Avenue, which also failed to come to a complete stop at the Anderson Drive intersection. Officers initiated a traffic stop after the vehicle pulled into a driveway on Florence Avenue. The driver was identified as Christopher A. Crowder, 39, of 139 Florence Ave., Jackson, and it was determined his driver's license had been suspended. He was cited for Driving Under Suspension and Speeding.
Trailer backs into side of Red Roof Inn
Jackson Police officers were called at 10:01 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1 to the Red Roof Inn at 1000 Acy Ave. where a vehicle pulling a small trailer had struck the side of the building. Police determined that the driver of the vehicle and trailer, Robert Prather of Reynoldsburg, had accidentally backed his trailer into the building while attempting to pull into a parking place. There was no information about the extent of the damages.
Two-vehicle crash at Huron-Dickason intersection
Jackson Police officers were on the scene of a two-vehicle crash which occurred at the intersection of Huron and Dickason streets at 5:13 p.m. Monday, Oct. 2. A sports utility vehicle which was driven northbound on Dickason Street by Nina Rose, 67, of 27 Oak St., Jackson, failed to stop at a stop sign and struck an eastbound car being driven on Huron Street by William Stevison, 69, of 70 Daisy Ave., Jackson. Both vehicles incurred disabling damages and Stevison sustained possible injuries, but was not immediately transported to a medical facility. Police cited Rose with a Stop Sign Violation.
