Two Jackson County men were temporarily trapped in a Jeep sports utility vehicle after it crashed and overturned on Fairgreens Road between Jackson and Wellston on Tuesday morning, Oct. 10.
The Jackson Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reports the one-vehicle wreck occurred at 9:20 a.m., east of the State Route 788 junction.
Preliminary information indicates a westbound Jeep driven by David Mullins, 42, of Wellston, drove off the right side of the road, then overcorrected and went off the left side of the road, striking a guardrail and overturning. Mullins and a passenger, Jay Blankenship, 36, of Jackson, both had to be extracted from the vehicle by fire department and EMS personnel.
Both men were taken to Holzer Medical Center-Jackson, but their injuries were described as non-incapacitating. Both men were wearing safety restraints.
Assisting on the scene were personnel from the Jackson Fire Department, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Jackson County Sheriff's Office and Jackson County Emergency Medical Services. Representatives from Ron's Garage were also on-hand to help remove the vehicle from the ditch where it came to rest on its top.
