A young Jackson man has been charged and jailed for allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old Jackson girl.

The Jackson Police Department reports that a 4th-degree felony charge of Unlawful Sexual Conduct With A Minor has been filed against 21-year-old Steven Cook of 75 Morton St., Jackson. Police officers made the arrest after interviewing both him and the female and reviewing evidence on the girl's cell phone.

Police officers were first contacted at 9:43 p.m. Sunday, July 9, by one of the girl's parents who had discovered "messages of sexual nature" on the girl's cell phone from a 21-year-old male and also reported she had been sneaking out on several occasions to meet him.

According to the police report, Cook and the girl made initial connections through Whisper, a social-media mobile app which allows users to post and share photo and video messages anonymously. They initially met at a local park and on three occasions reportedly went to a shed behind Cook's residence to talk and smoke Marijuana. On the final occasion, they allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse.

The girl showed police the location of the shed and officers were able to locate Cook there that same night. After the interviews were conducted and evidence confiscated, which included a condom, Marijuana seeds and the girl's cell phone, Cook was arrested, charged and jailed in the Jackson County Correctional Facility.

Cook appeared in Jackson County Municipal Court on Tuesday, July 11 and was represented by Jackson attorney Justin Skaggs. Judge Mark Musick set a bond of $25,000 of which 10 percent can be posted or full surety.

Don't speak unless you know the full story. For you to say that someone deserves to die for a simple mistake like this makes YOU the disgusting one. We all know that teenagers today are way different from before and this man may have had no idea how old she even was, girls can be sneaky and conniving. But it's probably a good thing you don't live in Jackson because I'm sure no one would want to have anything to do with you anyway you judgmental piece of trash.

This is so sad honestly! I was raised in Jackson Countymy entire life! From the time I was born in 1999, to age 18, I've lived in Jackson County, Ohio. I don't even feel comfortable telling people where I'm from because I feel like they'll judge me due to what others around the county do. To me, it's a disgrace to even let people like this man continue to live! If someone in their right minds would do what should be done to this kind of predator/ pedophile/ chil molester, (whatever you wanna call them) and hang all the people that do this and have been caught and charged I say the world would be that much better so we know that these child molesters aren't on the street or released from jail/prison and not able to harm our children or anyone's children ever again!! Also while I myself was in Jackson County I alone had a 60 YEAR OLD that had STALKED me from the time I was 11 to now! This man who stalked me, was a known pedophile and nothing was ever done about it!! And me coming from Jackson County Ohio, and finally getting away from that hell hole, I say that Jackson County has turned out to be nothing but it's own Hell On Earth. That it's nothing but a disgrace all in itself
