Though it was not unanimous, the Jackson County Board of Commissioners voted this week to appoint a new member to the county's Airport Authority Board.
During a brief meeting Tuesday, April 18, a motion was put forth by Commissioner Ed Armstrong to appoint Steven P. Keller as the newest member of the county's nine-member Airport Authority Board. When the issue came to a vote, Commissioner Paul Haller was the only one of the three men to vote against the appointment.
Haller later explained his vote was not meant to be viewed as anything negative against Keller. He stated he wishes to see the county's Airport Authority Board decreased from nine members to seven. However, with the affirmatory votes from the other two commissioners, Keller's appointment was approved in the form of Resolution 73-17.
Tuesday morning also saw the approval of the contract for the courthouse roof replacement project. After a bidding process and review period, the winning bid was awarded to E. Lee Construction of Delphos, Ohio. That project is expected to get underway soon.
