3/18/2017 3:00:00 PM Wellston Main Street invites community, organization leaders to March 23 meeting
The Wellston Main Street (WMS) organization has been busy during the fall and winter months. Members have held events such as Family Movie Night at Pride Park and the successful Christmas Treats on Wellston Streets. But the work hasn't ended there.
Members of WMS have been working behind the scenes to further their vision to create a unique and vital downtown that will embrace Wellston's history, enrich the business community, preserve Wellston's natural environment and to promote quality events to instill a sense of community.
Not only has there been a couple of successful events, but the organization, with the help of Wellston City Council, was able to have the Downtown District of Wellston declared as a Historical District. Plans are being made for seminars for people interested in starting businesses. Many other plans are in the works, but it takes a lot of participation by the Wellston community.
Wellston Main Street will conduct a community meeting on Thursday, March 23 at 6:30 p.m. at the Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Hall on South New York Avenue in Wellston. All community members are asked to attend as well as leaders of the many organizations in Wellston.
"WMS members would like meet with the community and organization leaders, whether sports, civic, school, etc., to coordinate a calendar of events," a spokesman noted. "They have many events that are being planned, but they need YOUR help. With the Wellston Main Street vision, our community can become vital."
